Note: I have NOT used the vacuum yet. I just returned a different corded stick vacuum that I purchased because I wasn’t pleased with it and decided it to “stick with what I know” (I own other Shark vacuums), spend the extra money and purchase a Shark corded vacuum. I don’t care about cordless features because I don’t want to worry about charging the vacuum and still having limited time to use it before needing to recharge. I chose the Shark HV322 Rocket Pet Plus Corded Vacuum. I have a dog and a houseful of people so I thought this would be perfect. Upon delivery by Amazon, I brought the package in and began to unpackage so that I could give my new purchase a try. The first thing I noticed is that the outermost brown cardboard packaging that the vacuum arrived in was from Shark. It had the correct model number (see photo) but said Shark Rocket Ultra Light Upright Vacuum as the description. This raised flag #1. I removed the actual product box from the outer packaging and that description matched what I thought I purchased and received (see photo). Upon taking the vacuum parts out of the box, I then noticed that the Owners Guide said Shark Rocket Series HV320. I know that it’s not uncommon for an owners guide to have multiple model numbers in one guide. I continued removing the parts and noticed that the main vacuum head makes no mention of being Pet Plus. That says Rocket Deluxe Pro (see photo). Clearly, I have no idea if I received what I purchased. This is NOT the fault of Amazon. This is 100% the fault of Shark! I have owned 3 other Shark products. My first 2 were great and well worth every penny spent. My other current Shark vacuum is lackluster at best but I’m making it work because I can’t return it to Target (it’s only 1 month old) and I’ve thrown away the packaging. The quality of Shark products seems to have decreased while the pricing is definitely increasing. Shark should be ashamed of themselves for selling products that don’t match what their packaging says. As I said, I have not used the vacuum yet as I was too annoyed that I’m not sure if I received what I was supposed to. I’ll update after I’ve actually used whatever this corded vacuum is. Im going to post this review on Shark’s website as well to alert all buyers. I’m no longer sure that I’ll invest or recommend any Shark products.
Living with animals in a dusty environment makes it hard to keep clean. Especially area rugs.
I'm impressed with how well this vacuum work on rugs and bare floors. It switches easily between the two.
It takes a bit more to clean a rug than the bare floors. One pass and the floors are clean, but the rug takes several passes.
It's light, and the most maneuverable thing I've ever used. The head will move where you want it, almost without having to do anything.
My rugs were filthy, so how the canister filled up may have been due to that. It looks like what I was picking up didn't go in to the dust cup. It didn't clog, and it was easy enough to empty.
With 2200 square feet of tile, and a few area rugs, I think this was a good choice.
I was able to put together and use this vacuum within 5 minutes out of the box! This lightweight vacuum does great on my carpet, rugs and hardwood floors. Perfect for picking up all that holiday glitter and tree or decor fallings around the house. No more having to use my hand or other tools to empty the carpet/dirt debris around either the filter or motor. The XL cup is separate and very easy to detach and empty. The plug in cord is extra long too. Besr part: No more having to wait for recharging to clean my whole house from top to bottom. Lightweight to carry up and down the stairs / around the house with ease. I wish it came with the an accessory clip to hold the 3 cleaning tools but planning to purchase separately for convenience. Other than that, I luv it so far, I am totally happy with my purchase!
I thought the light was a silly idea, but I've found it to be very helpful when vacuuming under furniture.
I don't have to move furniture to clean under as the vacuum is low enough to the floor to clear the bottom of the furniture.
It took me only a couple minutes to get a feel for the swivel head, and I've found it to be very easy to "steer."
It's light, so very easy to carry around. It is a bit top-heavy since the motor is near the handle, so it won't stand on its own.
When I first started shopping for a stick vacuum, I decided not to spend more than about $50, since I would use it in such a limited way. I bought a different brand at a local big-box store and discovered upon unpacking the box that it was missing a very important piece, so back to the store I went. Then I decided to spend a little, get one with better reviews and more features. I'm so glad I did!
If allowed, I would deduct a half star for these reasons:
First, it's extremely loud and also emits a high-pitched sound. I believe you should wear ear protection when using.
Second, there is a place on the back of the vacuum that allows one to hang it. Great idea, but it should be included with the vacuum, not an extra charge in a separate order. My husband made a hanger out of a single piece of aluminum bar, about 1"x5", bent at a slight angle, then screwed into the wall . It works great and saved about $15. Come on Shark, don't be so greedy; the vacuum is expensive as is, throw in the hanger.
I would like to note that we have hard flooring and pets that shed nonstop. I needed something that would not scratch my vinyl flooring and that could get in tricky spots and pick up massive amounts of pet hair. This thing has done all of this wonderfully, and is exceeding all of my expectations over the past couple weeks that I’ve had it.
Some feature that I REALLY like about it:
- The headlights as they show hair that I didn’t even previously see and they allow me to vacuum rooms in the dark when I want to just quickly hit an area. I didn’t think lights mattered but they really are nice to have.
- The head is extremely easy to move around. It has a pivot point where it swivels around things very easily. I was very impressed with how easy this is to maneuver and all the places I could now get with it. One cool thing is that you can almost lay it completely down (to get under things) and the base vacuum part doesn’t come off the ground at all enabling you to get under your entertainment center, bed, couch, etc.
- It literally feels great in my hand while vacuuming. It feels like a nice high quality sturdy vacuum and it’s an enjoyable experience using it. I haven’t had this out of a vacuum in years and it’s a great feeling to actually enjoy vacuuming again since I have to do it every day with my pets.
I did a lot of research into vacuums prior to buying this and it was really hard to pick out one that I thought would be the best for me because you can only tell so much by reading about them and you just never know until you try it. Well I assure you that I made the absolute best choice buying this and I would definitely recommend trying this one. You can always send it back through Kohl’s or something if you don’t like it but I freakin love this thing (so much that I made me want to write a review lol.) You will not be disappointed in this vacuum cleaner.
Last thing to note is some people complain because it doesn’t stay upright on its own (like when you’re done using it for a moment) but its not been an issue for us at all. To store it we put it in a jacket closet. To stand it up, the handle part can actually be sat on a counter and it’ll hold the whole thing upright, or you can stand it up against a wall. Just saying this because it hasn’t been an issue at all and don’t let that discourage you.
I used the vacuum on my area rug, on some of my hardwood floors, and on my carpeted stairway. Suction seemed strong and effective. For the stairs, I converted the vacuum to handheld (a click), and added the upholstery tool, to go over the stairs, then the crevice tool to get into the corners and edges of the stairs. Simple and effective. I tend to never use accessories with my vacuums, because of the hassle factor. This was easy to use, and since they are kept separate from the vacuum itself, don't add bulk and awkwardness to the machine while using it. I just put them into a bag, which I hang next to the vacuum in the living room closet, neatly leaning against the wall.
The vacuum does not stand up by itself, because of its design (meant to be convertible to and from handheld to normal vacuum), but that doesn't bother me either. In that way it is like my small steam mop, which I just lean against a wall or counter if I need move or adjust something while I'm using it.
The "Dust Cup," which holds the debris the vacuum sucks up, is on the smaller side, but adequate. The instructions say to empty it after each use, so I did, which only took seconds to accomplish and reattach.
They only negative to me was the high-pitched whining sound while running the vacuum. Less loud than my older standard vacuums, but still a little unpleasant to my ears. Earplugs handled that problem.
Overall, I am very happy with this Shark vacuum cleaner, and I do recommend it to others.
This vacuum EASILY picked up her hair in just one take. It has two settings, one for carpet and one for hard wood. It has an attachment for corners and an upholstery attachment which has helped me keep our couch clean. The vacuum isn’t too loud, and is super light weight. You can move turn it super easily, and it has LED lights to let you see all the hair and dirt on the ground.
For the price (and the fact it’s a stick vacuum, this product is IMPRESSIVE.
It arrived quickly, was very simple to assemble and is lightweight.
I can vacuum from one end of the apartment to the other without needing to unplug and replug it in somewhere else, which is very nice!
As you can see from the picture, it picks up quite a bit too. We have 2 little dogs who shed a ton, and the area we live in is crazy dusty around this time of year. I vacuum 1-2 times a week and it always sucks up that much hair/dust and more if I feel like going over the carpet more than once in a day.
I’ve used this several times now, and it seems like the brush roller does what it says as far as self cleaning goes because I have not had to pull any hair from it which is also a plus.
The dust bucket is also very easy to keep clean after dumping all the gross stuff out! I usually just spray out any of the dust clinging to the sides, let it air dry and click it back in looking good as new.
Another cool thing I didn’t realize it had when I bought it was a little light at the front that helps you see some of the stuff you’re vacuuming!
The only thing that would make it better is if the dust roller part was a bit wider, just to make vacuuming a little quicker but I knew the dimensions before purchasing so can’t really complain about that :)
It might be more annoying to use if you were in a big house or vacuuming a large space, but it does a great job for what we need it for.
Highly recommend!
There should be a place to attach the attachments. I feel that these will be placed somewhere and lost when I go to use them.
And did I mention that this is a heavy vacuum? Very top heavy and it's gets tiring using it.
This is not the vacuum for us.
Shark HV343AMZ Rocket, and LOVE it. It is very light-weight, VERY maneuverable, and has STRONG suction. I didn't vacuum for a couple weeks, wanting to put this to the test, and, WOW! Look at all the hair & debris it got! It did better than my upright!! And, yes, there was SOME of my hair that got around the roller, but it only took about 30 seconds and 3 snips of the scissors to clean it all out; no need to take it apart. Considering I hadn't vacuumed in about 3 weeks, this was pretty impressive to me, as we live in a country area full of trees and sand. It easily comes apart with a foot pedal for high-up cleaning, and then for storage, fitting easily into a closet. My only complaint was that it came with only 2 basic cleaning tools, crevice & upholstery, but no brush, but I was able to order the brush on Amazon, (which actually came attached to an upholstery tool, so now I actually have two), which is good for walls & ceilings. I am HIGHLY IMPRESSED for a purchase under $200 - LOVE IT!!
P.S. I bought the 'Used - Like New' version and saved about $20, and it arrived in brand-new condition.
If you have pets you will be emptying the bin more frequently as it will pickup up dog hair quite well. But this should be expected, as it's a stick vacuum.
For older people, or those that don't want to push around a larger heavy vacuum, this is a great option and still has the 🦈 vacuum suction power.
It's very versatile as well, you can use it as an upright vacuum, or you can press the wand release lever and have a hand vacuum with about 2 feet of extended reach to possible hit corners or ceilings for cob webs or reach under furniture. You can also separate it from the top of the wand and have a handheld vacuum for cleaning off couches or stairs as you walk up them.
You also need to clean all three filters once a month to maintain optimal performance. I would recommend replacing them every 3-6 months as well, you can get some on Amazon for fairly cheap.
Pros:
Lightweight
Hard suction
Light for at night vacuuming
Flexible
Stands on its own
Cons:
Leaves 2 lines on carpet
Has a scratch when received but wasn't an issue since it wasn't broken
Vacuum for stairs, the swivel gets in those tight to reach areas and the quality and functionality is top notch! Best vacuum I have ever owned. Believe me, make the purchase! You will be excited to vacuum your home.
Easy to clean as well. Sharks are great products!
I chose this vacuum over another similarly rated one, based on the accessories and having a clip to store them on the vacuum. I thought I could trust the Shark Amazon store to be accurate, but not so much.
Cons is that it doesn't come with a wall mount and it doesn’t stand by itself. It is also not as powerful as my old canister vacuum which was a monster but that was expected because stick vacuums cannot be that powerful.
Overall this vacuum satisfies the needs of a clean freak like me so I highly recommend it if you have pets. If for any reason breaks down or stops performing well I will post an update but so far I’m satisfied.
Another thing we really love is the length of the wand. That sucker is so long! We can clean the rafters and the ceiling fans so easily.
The only to cons are: it doesn’t free-stand, and it is corded. Neither of those things really mattered to us if the vacuum was strong enough and did a great job, and it does. Hopefully it lasts a long time!
Other than that, on hardwood and carpet, it will suck the skin off a grape! It's not as heavy as most and it's got a lot of power. I love that you can turn the beater bar off for going under desk and not getting your cords sucked up, and I love that it has a beater bar!
I did not get any stars for cleaning the walls and ceilings as I will not be doing that, so I won't know how it does up there.
Original - 6/26/17: Omg, I didn't think it was possible but I am in LOVE with this vacuum cleaner. I'm the type of person who painstakingly researches all of my purchases before going through with them, and this vacuum was no exception. The reviews were great but this vacuum surpassed my expectations. It is light enough to be able to vacuum comfortably but it packs some serious sucking power. I used to have an inexpensive handheld before I got my American Eskimo Dog, and it showed to be no match for his extreme shedding. I was stressing out because a lot of models, even specifically pet ones, had many negative reviews about the hair getting caught and having to stop and remove it several times each vacuuming session. This product has been amazing and I've never had a problem with anything, especially hair getting caught. I also have long hair (to approximately my mid-back) that winds up everywhere... Sometimes I wonder how I have any left on my head. This vacuum picks everything up like a champ. I clean the roller after every few sessions to ensure there aren't any problems.
I have a 650 square foot apartment with tile (kitchen and bathroom), laminate flooring everywhere else, and several area rugs (two of them are thick, shaggy ones that my dog loves to lounge on). The True Pet motorized attachment cleans them like brand new in a matter of minutes. You'll be amazed (and maybe horrified) at what it picks up from carpet/rugs. I empty the canister once per session or so when I vacuum the whole apartment, which is great considering how much it picks up.
I can't even begin to tell you how pleasant it is to do everything with this vacuum. Moving it, swapping out attachments, and even detaching the handheld top portion to use by itself is a dream. Everything glides in and out so smoothly. I had to struggle with my previous vacuum to attach the various pieces which was really frustrating and led to chipped nails and an annoying experience. It also overheated several times during each session and would shut itself off, so I couldn't clean the whole apartment with it at once. This model never overheats or loses power. You don't realize how much little things like that matter until you have something better.
The vacuum has two suction settings: powerful and tornado (not really but you'll see how strong it is). It is not too loud though which is really nice. It also has washable filters so paired with the bagless canister, you don't have to waste money replacing these items. The close to $200 price tag seemed a little high to me at first, but after looking around and seeing how high other models go and compared to how amazing this one is, I can't imagine myself using anything else. It makes it a joy to clean. It stores nicely either on the floor (you remove the top handheld portion and hook it on the bottom) or there is a wall attachment. It takes up very little floor space and honestly, it looks nice so you won't mind if it is visible. There are also lights on both the main floor attachment and the handheld attachment which are amazing. You can see all the little dirt and debris and can even vacuum in the dark if you want to (when picking up dog hair it's actually almost easier to do so in the dark because of how well these lights work, especially at angles).
This vacuum will not disappoint you.

Hoover T-Series WindTunnel Pet Rewind Bagless Upright Vacuum, UH70210 - Corded
, and it sucked pretty much everything but dirt. It weighed a bazillion pounds, and it was so.hard.to.push. After using my new Shark for the first time, I also realize that it didn't really pick up a lot of dirt either.
I did a lot of research. I was torn between this and a Dyson Ball. In the end, it was the weight that was my deciding factor, because we have a three story house, which means I was going to be carrying it up and down a lot of stairs. We have carpet upstairs and in the basement. The main level is bamboo/hardwood. This vacuum works amazingly well on both, but it is nothing short of a miracle on carpet. My husband, who doesn't notice much of anything, could actually tell, simply by walking on it, that the carpet felt "fluffier".
Because it's so light, it makes everything pretty easy to clean. I have ditched the dust wand and use the dusting attachment on all the furniture. Above floor cleaning is a breeze. I do my ceiling fans and the tops of picture frames once a month. I now clean the baseboards and vents every single time I vacuum, because it's just that easy. This thing has pretty much eliminated the need for a deep Spring Cleaning, because it makes simply keeping it clean as you go a snap.
If all of that is not convincing enough, take a look at this picture. It's actually kind of embarrassing to share, but it certainly proves my point. I just now vacuumed this out of our couch. In our household we have one dog, two adults, and two kids. This couch basically brand new. We bought it when we moved into our new house, only FOUR MONTHS ago. Until now, I had been vacuuming it DAILY with a handheld Dirt Devil Dustbuster. If this picture doesn't convince you, nothing will!
