I got this because I’m too lazy to haul the Dyson upstairs. So for $50 this is my upstairs vacuum, and I love it! I was very impressed with the power and the fur and dirt it pulled up.
It works so well for pet hair and the different ends make it easy to get into those weird, impossible places to sweep. This has changed the cleaning game in my apartment. And my husband loves it, as you can see. 😂
I foster for a rescue group and have 14 dogs of my own and always have extra beasts running around. I have hard floors and this thing gets the hair. We have 10 puppies right now that have chewed up every dog bed and there is fuzz and stuffing everywhere. I had no trouble sucking up every piece, large and small without any plugs or problems. I did have to empty the canister several times though.
Love: lots of suck, automatic cord winder, lightweight, no bags and that this thing follows me around.
Don't love: sometimes tips over, cord could be longer, have to get hands dirty when dumping canister.
I use this like a stick vacuum and get the whole floor. It really gets in the corners and edges. I like it so much that I might order another one for upstairs. I don't think this would be awesome on carpets but it is awesome on hard surfaces. You can't beat this type of tool for the price!
ago), stopped working.
My husband plans to tinker with the old one in hopes of getting it running again. We felt the $17.5 a year (or $69)we spent on it was totally worth it, even if we can’t get going again. The newer Bissel is now about $10 more, so if it lasts us 4 years as well, it’s still a good price at $20 per year.
Just a great all around lil vacuum that even my kids find easy to use ! :0)
Update:
Discovered our first Bissel was still working about an hour after purchasing our 2nd! We had apparently tripped our basement sockets due to another plug going at the same time, go me! Anyhow, we cancelled our 2nd Bissel purchase for now though if we ever need to we’d still buy it again!
New note on Filter: The filter has been super easy to clean. I suspect, that as long as I keep up my cleaning routine (after every other major use) the 2 extra filters I bought won’t ever be used. I use soapy water and the hot kitchen water with medium-hard nozzle spray to get in-between grooves of filter for initial cleaning and one final rinse with kettle boiled water. Then I let them air dry. I’ve used very diluted Clorox for a mid cleaning (after soapy water and before hot boiled water) to rid odor buildup about every 2nd or 3rd time I clean the filter. Generally taken Less than 15 minutes.
The vacuum arrived on time and it was well packed…I totally recommend Bissell
I really liked this at first, it’s light and had good suction. After the 2nd month the plastic tab that held the hose/head of the vacuum up in place for storage broke. No big deal. Then a few months later the hose part that runs from the head of vacuum cracked and this is a big deal because it renders the product useless (unless the company has a fix for this). Super disappointing.
Things I like:
Full metal extension tool although it should have 2-3 more steps for taller people like myself.
It’s quiet compared to my older dirt Devil canister bagless vacuum. I would use hearing protectors when I would use the Dirt Devil!
It had a high and low switch on top of the vacuum.
Fairly light to pickup and take to another area.
Retractable cord is nice feature as long as it doesn’t break.
What I don’t like:
No place for onboard storage for the dusting brush and crevice tool + the dusting brush is cheapest looking unit. There is a place according to the picture manual for the floor vacuum nozzle but if mounted like the picture it will drag on the floor. See picts for details. Mount it upside down it work but looks stupid.
As mentioned previously I wish the stepped metal extension rod was longer by at least 6 inches for taller people.
I will store this vacuum in my closet and I don’t like the fact that when you pull the top hose out to stand the unit up in storage the hole in the top leaves the vacuumed dust exposed to the air. I supposed I can use a thick piece of painters tape to cover this hole while storing it however.
Bag size is small so doesn’t hold a lot so be prepared to replace bags more often than you may be used to with say an upright with bags. I did know this vacuum was bagged and it being a bagged vacuum was a too reason to purchase for me. I have had it with the constant messy dumping and filter changing and maintenance on the bagless vacuums and have converted all my home vacs back to bagged models!
For me 5/5 .
I bought especially for my dog who is a Husky so you can imagine how is to deal with that…
Okay, the suction is decent but, seriously the hose and parts are a super light, cheap plastic. It’s like a kids toy. The nozzle doesn’t sit nice on the floor because it has absolutely no weight to it. I guess need to invest in something better. You get what you pay for. If you’re broke and need cheaper for now, maybe. If you can pay slightly more, get a better vacuum cleaner. One that has a metal extension and hose for starters.
The pictures look better than is. Appliances sure have gotten cheap. Disappointing in Bissel on this one.
I will never go back to a bag again never ever never nope 😌
I found out about this vacuum because my friend had it, I made the worst decision and bought a huge vacuum from Walmart that was a big disappointment. So, I sold it, and bought this BISSEL off Amazon.
I am a hairdresser so I need everything sucked in and QUICK. This vacuum do not leave anything behind, is amazing how they charge this little for it. Is very easy to toss the garbage away once you’re done too. I highly recommend, DO NOT TRY ANYTHING ELSE.
So I figured: my good friend (whose judgment and disposition I trust without question, and someone who doesn’t have a cheapskate bone in his body) out of the blue explains how much he loves a little green bagless vacuum cleaner priced 75% below the vacuum models he and I typically buy. At this price and with this effusive endorsement, what do I have to lose? I bought mine a short time later, after doing a bit of homework just in case my friend lost his mind.
My verdict after the first week or so of use? This ZING is terrific. The suction is strong enough to power through a shag carpet I have in my study, and versatile enough to clean the tile and hardwood surfaces of the floors in our home. The push-button power cord retraction feature is super-useful (and spares me the mess of a spool of cord to manually wind around the back of the upright assembly.
The bagless canister is designed for simplicity, ease of emptying, and hassle-free access to the three parts that require periodic removal and cleaning. The buttons and latches are clearly marked and intuitively placed, so there’s no need to keep the manufacturer’s user manual handy: just think intuitively, and you’ll get it.
TIme will tell how the motor and power system hold up, and if loss of suction becomes a problem.
But given the outstanding performance and overall experience so far—and a price that is almost suspiciously affordable—I’m more than willing to give this vacuum a shot and use it wherever I need to in the coming weeks and months.
If anything changes or my experience falters for some reason, I’ll amend this review with details. For now, I’m a happy and enthusiastic ZING owner.
We didn't want to spend too much money on a vacuum so thought of giving this a try.
Aaaaaand both me and my wife are really happy with this purchase.
IT REALLY DOES ITS JOB!
Only issue is that sometimes the hose detaches. But it is not a big deal. Hope they would put a locking system in the future.
I really like how light it is compared to our 50-year-old Kenmore canister that still worked and went to a new home. You wouldn’t think something this small and light could suck up anything but it does.
Things I like:
- it’s light weight
- it has tool attachments for dusting, small spaces
- easy to adjust from carpet to floor
- waste container easy to detach and dump out (filter different story, see dislikes)
- good suction, especially on plain floor
- noise tolerable
Things I don’t like:
- power cord not long enough
- tends to tip over when pulling it behind you or when turning in different direction
- too bulky for stairs
- wouldn’t recommend for thick or wall-to-wall carpets
- filter in waste container not easy to clean without getting your hands dirty with all the dust and dirt stuck to it
- extension tube tends to detach from hose while in use
Overall I’m satisfied with this vacuum cleaner. Especially since it’s light weight and far less noisy than my old one. But I’m glad I kept my old one which I still use for the wall to wall carpet in the basement.
The other attachments like the small brush, and the concentrator nozzle work great. I use them for corners, molding, etc.
For my hardwood floor is, my process is to sweep all the dirt up against various walls throughout the space and then go to each wall and use the concentrator nozzle to suck it up.
The suction power is good, and the shorter distance from the floor to the main unit, the better. So, for example, for more suction, attach the floor attachment directly to the hose that is connected to the main unit, instead of with that extra hose in the middle.
I like that it's so portable, very lightweight and easy to pick up and move from area to area. I also like the retractable cord. You have to make sure that it's laid out flat on the floor and in front of the hole it retracts into in order for it to work properly. But it does work whether the vacuum cleaner is plugged in or not. If you have the cord all bunched up around vacuum cleaner it won't work. And you have to hold the button down until it's finished retracting.
At first, I decided to return it because I wanted to use it as my main vacuum cleaner unit for my carpet and hardwood floors and everything. But it does not work for carpet at all. The hole underneath the floor attachment (see my photo) is just too small. If it was the full length of the attachment, then it might work. But it's just too small and you can't know where the hole has already been on the carpet because you can't see under there. So you will end up missing a lot of spots. I would imagine it would be the same for hardwood floors, that you would miss a lot of spots. But you can just use my method of sweeping all of the dirt up against the wall and then using the concentrater nozzle to suck it up.
I ultimately decided to keep it because I figured that it would be good to use for my sewing room when there is a lot of thread all over the carpet, to just walk around and use the concentrator nozzle to suck it up. So, I went ahead and purchased my favorite bagged vacuum cleaner for my carpet. That way, I won't destroy the beater brush in that one with a thread in my sewing room.
I've since also discovered the tape method to use it on my area rug, so I'm happy with it overall.
It comes with one bag, but they are cheap enough to reorder here on Amazon, and I've already used it probably five times or so and I'm still on the first bag.
While assembling it, I thought I was missing one of the pieces, but it turned out that it looks different in the manual than does the actual attachment. Dorry, I can't remember which piece it was. But if you think you're missing a piece, just consider that you're not and find the piece that matches closely. Now that I'm thinking about it, it might have been the concentrator nozzle.
This vacuum doesn't have those problems, its literally light as a feather, easy to drag after you, it doesn't have belts, its easy to clean and most importantly IT IS REALLY POWERFUL. 10points.
It is light! It is very light, but at the same time vacuum itself does not feel cheap.
Black plastic pipe is on cheap side and I have not tried to use it with it. It is flimsy and I'm not sure it gives the level of control you need considering the suction of this little volume. Good thing, old metal pipe from fits right in and works great. At 50$ I was not expecting much, but I'm really pleased with a purchase. I would strongly recommend this vacuum cleaner.
Solid 4.5 stars (because of the pipe), but it is not an options, so 5 starts :)
P.S.
added pictures for clarity as multiple items come up under same name.
Aside of that...I decided to try to vacuum our very large rugs with this, and WOW! It got up a ton more fur off the rugs and hard floors than our other Bissell stand up (granted the other vacuum is over 10 years old) - you used to be able to still see all the fur on the rug after we vacuumed...not any more with this little gem! I attached a picture of the canister after half the room was vacuumed...lots there. We went with the bagless, knowing how fast we would go through bags in this house...
Yes...as others have said, fur WILL stick to this via static - again see picture! But it takes 2 seconds to detach that tool and vacuum it off before you turn it off and put it away. And it will indeed go mostly flat for under furniture vacuuming - another fantastic bonus to buying this! But you can see that when it's flat, it is at an angle, but still very doable! Yes...the plastic pieces can and likely will detach - but I didn't have a problem as I really push them together and twist as I do so...they seemed to happily stay together for me. Having this much fur around, we still have to reach into the "ick" canister to remove it all when we go to empty it - but really isn't too bad, although it is a bit more messy than our old stand up - but might just be my getting used to it and trying to figure out the less messy way to empty it.
Overall, very well worth the money! Might have to stay with canisters for now on - even the more expensive ones. Extremely happy!
This unit has a holder for the crevice tool on the back side of it. No holder for dust brush unless you were to put it in the part that holds the top filter. Also the holder for the floor tool is on back or one on the bottom to store it upright. Added photos to show this
What can I not say about this. I been using a electrolux xxx from 1949 that works great. But heavey no wheels it has sleds and shack out bag.
Now the zing seems to be the same amount of suction as my old one. A vac like this was made for bare floors or aera rugs that are flat. I would never use something like this on carpet to hard to push. Now if you were to buy a floor turbo tool yes it would be good on carpet.
I find my old tools work on it along with the new ones it came with. Cord a little short not bad just might need to unpplug and replug it some place else as you clean. It comes with a dust brush and crevice tool and the floor rug tool. I love the wand being one part that pulls out to differnt sizes.
Some say tools fall off the wand odd since electrolux used this desing for years. A tip on that is to twist them onto the wand this makes them fit thight. Sound wise not bad heck it is a vaccuum so there well be sound but it is not something you would have to cover your ears for it is about as lound as say a window ac unit.
I hope it holds up for years to come and keeps working like new. User guide is not much of a guide at all it is more just photos.
On that brush down for hardwood up for rugs.
