This inexpensive vac works like a champ. Easy to use, works on carpet and hard floors, and most important, has an easy to empty bin, and sucks up all the fur and dirt *without getting tangled.*
It's an inexpensive model, so don't expect a bunch of luxury features. It doesn't have a headlight, and it's a lot noisier than my old Miele. BUT... It picks up fur, hair, and dirt like nobody's business. I'll put up with a bit of noise and I can live without a headlight.
The other strange thing is that it comes with a nice selection of accessories but doesn't have a way to store the corner tool on the vacuum itself. Seems like a bit of an afterthought, but I can find a way to store this extra tool.
I'm very happy with this purchase.
We don’t have a pet, but we do host a lot and love to have friends over for dinner. That being said, there’s always someone coming and going so I wanted to have a pet grade vacuum.
I swiffer our house every week, and we are a very clean family…So when I finally landed on this vacuum, I didn’t know what to expect but the reviews were good! And this vacuum is AMAZING. This picture shows how much I got up from our carpets and rugs in one go. It was easy to put together, the cord is long enough, it’s easy to empty the canister, and I like that you can use it on carpet and hardwood. It’s not hard to push, and doesn’t smell up the house like some vacuums tend to.
Even if you don’t have a pet, this is a great choice!
I set up my litmus test by not vacuuming my white carpet for 3 weeks. The vacuum I'd keep would be the one that leaves a white stripe through the black hair. You can see my photos - I got the white stripe with this vacuum.
I did a TON of research before buying this, and considered the pet-specific Bissell, the Eureka pet vacuum which also had a stunning amount of 5* reviews, as well as the Dyson V12 Detect Slim, which was 500% of the price. Here's my assessment and summary:
PROS:
- Successfully leaves a white stripe, with one up/back arm stroke of the vacuum. It's even better if I change directions for the nap of the rug, and do up/back lengthwise and widthwise, and up/back from both diagonals. If you don't know what "nap" is for rugs, carpets, google it. It's a critical element for effective vacuuming.
- Easy to maneuver. I'm almost 40 but pretty fit, and I did not find this hard to wield or heavy.
- Cord stores pretty easily
- Attachment for stairs worked like a dream
- The "eraser" tool gets all of my upholstery types
- The settings for carpet pile are good and worth paying attention to
- Did fine on my 100yr old hardwood floors without any mods
CONS:
- The tilt doesn't allow it to fully get under my coffee table
- The hose to which the attachments fit is, as other reviewer state, rather short. This means I have to carefully set the vacuum on the steps and bring it up one by one as I use the "eraser" tool
- There was definitely a burning smell the first 3-4 times I used it. Heeding the reviews of others, I bought replacement belts at the same time as purchasing this (leveraging Prime's "customers also buy..." suggestion for the correct one, which will allow me to easily re-purchase through my order history if needed in the future)
Given how easy this is to use, I will be vacuuming much more frequently and that will probably also yield better results. I did see a review from a Corgi owner who was unsatisfied with this. I grew up with 4 of them, and I do firmly believe this vacuum would do it. The reviews for this definitely seem mixed, but I'm thrilled. Given the mixed reviews, I definitely purchased the Asurion protection plan.
I could probably do my whole house and its various flooring with the Bissell, but I have an old house, and the power outlet situation isn't set up for the modern living things like vacuuming. So I ALSO purchased the "Dyson v12 Detect Slim" for about $150 less, on an Amazon Prime sale. I use that for the areas where I don't have outlets nearby. Pricey? Yeah. But the sanity and time I've recovered is 200% worth it.
My floor hasn't felt this clean since I bought my house 3 years ago, and I have 3 very large dogs, two of which are German Shepards. So hair is definitely a problem. When I say, I only did a 4ft x 3ft section of my floor and got about the same amount of hair and dirt as I would have if I used my other vacuum on my whole floor! I'm not joking. This suction and "Triple Action Brush" is seriously the best.
I know it may seem like I'm exaggerating but I promise as a legitimate buyer I am not. I posted pictures of everything from the small section of floor that I did, to my 3 dogs. As well as the total amount of icky stuff from my floor by the time I was done. (THATS A 33 GAL TRASH BAG. and I'm a Size 13 in men)
Assembly was easy. I didn't even need the instructions, it's so light weight, also not very noisy, super well made, and the Swivel makes it so easy to move around and get to those annoying places. Also it's not any bigger than a standard upright vacuum but has a huge dirt/hair tank!
Out of all the reviews this is the one to read!
Anyway, I vacuumed my bigger bedroom rug and OMG I was totally disgusted of everything that got sucked out of my rug!! (see first picture).
My Hoover never came close to pulling this much out. This will very much help with my allergies at night.
The 2nd picture is of the carpet steps only. I haven't even touched the other two rooms yet downstairs.
I literally had no idea how much my other vacuum was leaving behind.
I do highly recommend this vacuum as the suction power is off the hook!!
Best investmest!!
But this Bissell was a dream! Not only did it glide easily over my carpet (it didn’t hurt my back!!) but it picked up dirt like a dream.
The swivel makes it so easy to maneuver. There are multiple height settings so it covers hard surfaces all the way up to thick pile carpet! The best part is that you get all of this for an amazing price. Don’t hesitate to order it!! Oh and not having to deal with dirty vacuum bags is an added bonus.
Good attachments
Great suction
Don’t thing the level setting has any change for carpets > hardwood
I ONLY vacuumed the area rug in front of the couch. THIS WAS ALL IN THE AREA RUG FOR OVER A YEAR. I am horrified but also extremely impressed.
I cannot wait to use this vacuum upstairs (I’m secretly scared to see what is waiting for me up there lol) but knowing this will keep my house CLEAN(er) and my husband feeling better will help me sleep better tonight.
BUY THE DANG THING!
And- it was maybe $110 after tax which if it breaks after 6 months I’d replace this twice a year easy than buy some $600 that still “sucks” lol
This sweeper is powerful, the swivel handle makes getting under furniture a breeze and the hand tool has great suction also. Will definitely look for this sweeper when the kill this one. Lol
I definitely recommend
The only thing I don't love is that the cord comes out the bottom, but that is only a minor annoyance that can be overlooked for how well it cleans my carpet!
You have a customer in me for life now, I will never buy any other brand.
I am absolutely disgusted with our old vacuum 😫🤢. I vacuumed the house 1 day prior to this baby arriving. After using her I'm realizing just how our old vacuum was a piece of 💩. Excited, I pulled this bad beeeoch out of the box, peiced her together (very easily), and went to town. I am mortified, embarrassed, and ashamed of the amount of dust and dirt this bad girl pulled up from my already vacuumed floor. This thing has a suction of a leech and was very easy to maneuver. It's light weight enought that these kids are about to learn how to vacuum and help mommy which a absolute bonus. The picture above is after vacuuming just half my living room.
My only CON is that it kept shocking the piss out of me 😅 but I know that's mainly because our house is dry, we're getting a humidifier here soon.
10/10 recommend.
THIS MODEL IS JUNK BUYER BEWARE
Update April 21-2024
I stand by my statement that this product is junk I just had to order another set of replacement belts for this vacuum which only cost $7.19 with shipping another $6.99
Remember I purchased this unit on December 23,2023
My house is less then 700 sq feet total 1 room with carpet 2 adults 2 cats no one else comes in or out of my home
I vacuum 3 times a week because we don’t have no traffic and are barely home
This vacuum is the worst I have ever had
After I received the vacuum in the mail, I put it together to test it on the carpet. First, I vacuumed over a 4x4 patch of carpet where the dogs usually play with my old Bissell vacuum, then went over the same spot with this new one. The dirt and pet fur nearly filled the canister! It was insane! I actually feel as if it is going to be much easier to keep up on the shedding and dirt with this new vacuum, and won't be so embarrassed to have company over. This isn't the original vacuum I was going to buy, but I definitely don't regret it.
I've only used it this once, so I can't attest to the comments others have had about their belt problems, but if I have any issues with that, I will update this review. But if you have a shedding problem in your home, I highly suggest that you purchase this vacuum. Feeling at peace in my fur free home today, and it's nice to not have to hear my husband sneezing and coughing alevery few minutes. The video and photo are just from the dog's couch. Imagine what the carpet will look like!
